The Velo Doctor as evolved from a hobby to a business!

Mark Gately has been a keen cyclist since a child and has never been without two wheeled transport since an early age. Forever breaking parts on his bike he soon became knowledgeable on bike maintenance especially Sturmey Archer gears on his Raleigh Bomber!

Having “set-up” a social cycling circle in 2002 Mark soon became known as the group mechanic and would carry spare parts and tools on each ride, especially as maintenance on some friends bikes left a lot to be desired.

Mark decided on a career break and to concentrate on his charitable and voluntary work. Then setting up The Velo Doctor after a number of bikes arrived for regular maintenance from friends and then friends of friends.

So the The Velo Doctor was born and Mark embarked on a Cytech Level Two course having completed level one theory some time before. A purpose built workshop was constructed for The Velo Doctor and all new tools and equipment was purchased to commence the business.

The Velo Doctor is now able to provide repairs and maintenance to all grades and types of bikes and commissions for builds which has been a passion for Mark for some time seeing a pile of parts transform into the customers ultimate bike.

As well as these services Mark is always happy to chat bikes and offer free advice to his customers some who have now become part of his Social Cycling Circle.

There is always a chair in The Velo Doctor workshop should the weather be poor and you need to escape! Coffee is never far away either.
